My New Fake Boots

A couple of weeks ago I decided I really really wanted a pair of Lita's. I love they way they look with cute little skirts and dresses so I had to get some! Unfortunately, forking over almost £700 a month for the mortgage, bills etc, plus having my own direct debits to pay means buying a pair of the real things just wasn't going to happen. I haven't really managed to save any money either since moving into the house.
There are literally hundreds of fakes on eBay so I spent quite a few evenings comparing and umming and ahhing before I finally settled on this pair from this seller. The heel isn't as high as the originals which is a good thing as I want to be able to wear them to work and generally walk around in them! I was worried they wouldn't look as good as the photo, or that they would look cheap, especially the wood effect heel, but I am so pleased with them! I highly recommend!

My Makeup Lust List

January is a long old month, made even longer due the fact payday is a week earlier in December so I'm counting down the days until the end of the month! I probably could have bought a few things from my list, however my skin has not been at its best recently, quite oily and dull looking and it does get me down a bit, so instead of makeup, I splashed out a bit and bought myself some REN Skincare items - REN Micro Polish Cleanser and REN Invisible Pores Detox Mask. At the end of January Boots No7 are releasing their own version of the Clarisonic and I'm very excited to get it! I do have quite large pores and they tend to feel clogged quite easily. My current routines doesn't seem to be working as well so hopefully these new products will be better.
In the meantime I'll be saving my pennies for these beauties!

I'm The Messy One

I'm the messy one in our relationship, it's no secret! My side of the bed always seems to look like a bomb has hit, so today I decided that enough was enough and it had to be tidied away. I just seem to have too much stuff and not enough storage space for it - no doubt it will be a big mess again by next weekend!

Sunday usually means a weekly food shop so we now have a fridge full of healthy food after having a fridge full of cheese, chocolate, alcohol and fizzy drinks. Me and Chris visited Tesco this morning and spent around £60 which is a bit more than average but we did have a fair few toiletries to stock up on so it's OK. Chris laughs at me but I do a meal plan for every week and make a shopping list of stuff we need each week so I don't end up spending a fortune and we're not left at a loose end for dinners. Hopefully I'm not the only person to do this?! The cans of Coke and the Toblerones are just left overs from Christmas, they're definitely not regular purchases!

I've got a nice evening of pampering to look forward to tonight - my face really feels like it could do with a deep cleanse after wearing heavy foundation and makeup for days on end so I'm going to do a facial exfoliation, steam and mask, lovely!

Repairing my Hair

I made a new years resolution to grow my hair an extra couple of inches and I'm determined to do it! I wash, dry and straighten literally every single day, sometimes even twice a day if I'm going out, and my hair has just stopped growing! Every time I go for a trim I worry that it's just going to get shorter and shorter until I have none left! I'm pretty sure that would never happen, but it's motivating me to really try!

I went to Superdrug today and purchased my first ever bottle of Batiste dry shampoo. I know so many people who swear by it so hopefully I can manage with it. I'm going to start with washing my hair every other day and see how it goes. The VO5 heat protect has been in the house for ages and I just never use it. Same with the tangle teaser; I bought it ages ago when they first came out but the novelty soon wore off. My hairdresser actually recommended the Argon Oil - basically it's a cheap version of the ever popular Moroccan Oil and you're supposed to just rub two to three pumps into towel dried hair. I've used it a couple of times now and it does make my hair feel a lot softer!
So for now it's bye bye hair straighteners, hello Totem Styler (less damaging?) and I'll post some progress photos if I do ever see any progress!

Shopping for Spring

I hate winter clothes! Spring and Summer fashion is so much prettier and I much prefer spending my money on skirts, shorts and little tops. I bought this adorable coral skater skirt from River Island earlier in the week and it's gorgeous! I tried it on and I do think I need a size smaller, only because it's high waisted! Unfortunately River Island have sold out of size 8, and it hasn't made it onto ASOS yet. I can't even check my local store because it burned down(!) last year and is yet to return. If it doesn't come back online next week I might consider driving the 40 minutes to the next closest store. I just really want it to sit high on my waist so I can wear crop tops with it in the summer and the size 10 is just that tiny bit too loose for me!

Resolutions

All week our plan for New Year was to just have a night in because Chris has been struck down with the man flu, however when I came home from work last night the plan had changed and we were indeed going out to celebrate New Year. I wore a dress that I bought a few months ago from River Island via Asos but I've only worn it once so I thought it would be OK to bring it out again. It's incredibly short and I was going bare leg so there was a lot of standing and pulling at the hemline! The model on ASOS was near enough 6" and being only 5"4' myself I thought I'd have a few extra inches of dress to deal with, but no such luck. I like how it has sleeves though; they make it less inappropriate and then there's no need to wear a jacket out!
I'm wearing MAC Viva Glam Gaga, my favourite night out lipstick, and China Glaze Shocking Pink on my nails, the brightest, most neon pink I own. Chris bought me the Enrapture Totem Styler for Christmas so I put it to good use last night, unfortunately burning my forehead in the process, I've got a lovely red burn mark this morning, never mind!

My resolutions for the New Year are fairly standard, they don't really change year on year! I'm going to make such an effort this year to take better care of my hair and try and encourage it to grow an extra couple of inches. I usually wash, dry and straighten my hair every single day and the ends are always dry and split and my hair just never grows. I've already got a new hair oil which I've been using and I'm going to attempt to wash my hair every couple of days, I think that's going to take some getting used to, I cannot stand not having super clean hair. I guess dry shampoo is the way to go!
I also feel I need to loose just a couple of pounds, but hopefully that will come easy once I get back to the gym on Monday, stop eating Christmas junk food and get back to normal healthy meals! I'm definitely going to make the most of my last few days of food freedom though - I've eaten pizza, pasta and chips over the last week and it's been amazing! I'm very much feeling the effects of all those carbs though, very sluggish and tired now!

Post-Christmas Wishlist

With Christmas behind us, and the disappointing January Sales ahead of us, I've been looking to all the new arrivals for some shopping inspiration. I'm currently lusting over these items from Miss Selfridge and I do have some Christmas money to spend but I think I'm going to wait until the end of January and go to Cardiff or Birmingham for a shopping day with Chris. I like how all of these pieces can be mixed and matched which is something I need to work harder on as I do tend to buy individual pieces and then struggle to make an outfit!
